So, England kick off their final group match against Croatia today in just over two hours time. I'm slightly pessimistic for a good result but nevertheless I shall be supporting 'the boys' whole-heartedly. I'm pessimistic because England have a tendency to be beaten by teams they should really beat. I mean England aren't good but then neither are Croatia in reality. Yes I know that they came third in the 1998 World Cup but they are not the team of 'star-studded' internationals, such as Davor Suker, Robert Prosinecki or Zvonimir Boban, that they were. Defensively Croatia are sound, ranked 5th in the tournament by UEFA but going forward they are weak (ranked only ahead of Latvia) having said that they attacked strongly against France and succeeded in getting two valuable goals.
My point (tenuous as it is) is that England should beat Croatia and hopefully they will. But if they play defensively as they did against France and concede a goal I shall not be surprised.
Come on England.
